Meet Our AU Extend 1 Teachers
Mrs. Smith teaches the 3-5 AU class at Benvenue. This year will be her sixth year of teaching. She taught Resource for 3 years in Edgecombe County then made her move to Nash County. Mrs. Smith graduated from ECU in 2012 with a degree in General and Adaptive Special Education and Elementary Education. She also has a certification in Reading K-6. Mrs. Smith was recently married and enjoys spending time with her husband, dog, cat, family, and friends. She is also expecting her first child in December.

Mrs. Stokely teaches the K-2 AU class at Benvenue. This will be her sixteenth year of teaching. She has taught students with moderate to severe autism in both the elementary and middle school settings. Mrs. Stokely graduated from Western Carolina University in 2002 with a BS.Ed. in Special Education and graduated from East Carolina University in 2004 with a MA.Ed. in Special Education / Low Incident. She completed her National Board Certification in 2007 and a second graduate degree specially in autism in 2011 from ECU. Mrs. Stokely lives with her husband and two sons and enjoys time with family and friends.
